It's 30+ years since Burton's much-loved 76 Club closed, leaving local music fans saddened but with some amazing memories and counting themselves lucky to have been part of it. After several successful reunion gigs, Burtonians Steve Bowring and Keith B. Large have joined forces to fill that gap in Burton's music scene - by launching the 76 Club Rock Nights
The new 76 Club will operate from two venues - The Rockbar @ Shobnall Sports Club in Shobnall Road, the ideal venue for medium-sized intimate gigs. In addition, Burton Town Hall will be used to host larger special events such as the Andy Parker Memorial gig in April and October's 51st Anniversary reunion
Our policy is to book all original bands and artistes, both national and local - definitely no tribute acts. Take a look at the Gigs page to see how many top name bands are already booked for 2012. We are not trying to compete with Burton's lively pub-rock scene but rather to become an integral part of it, offering even more choice for Burton's music fans...
The 76 Club has been set up as a non-profit making venture. Club organisers intend that any surplus monies made will be reinvested in booking bigger and better bands. This will ensure continual improvement and secure a permanent place for the 76 Club on the Burton music scene
The first gig - bluesman Marcus Bonfanti - is at the Town Hall Friday 2nd March 2012, followed by a Rockbar gig on 31st March.. Coming up we have headline acts such as Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash, Geno Washington & the Ram Jam Band, and old club favourites like String Driven Thing. Tickets will go fast, so get yours now and be part of The 76 experience.
